Onboarding journey for new PM

Onboarding for new project managers is my self-initiated internal project

During my time in Purrweb, I have mentored a couple of new project managers who didn’t have any previous experience neither in the tech industry nor in management. I felt a strong need for some kind of knowledge base for them to turn to in case they have basic questions (where to find something, what is “X“ document, how to create “Y“).

HR department and head of PM in our company gave me a green light as I proposed to make a digital onboarding journey with step-by-step instructions, FAQ, glossary, and great templates which PMs use on a daily basis.

The resulting document consists of tons of categorized, bite-sized, and useful information for absolute beginners in the industry. Below you can see a sneak peek at the document.

I loved working on this project as it clarified the majority of questions newcomers had, eliminated fear of not knowing the basics of tech in new project managers (and thus reduced retention rates), eased the company’s onboarding process for project managers, and increased the productivity of senior staff in the department.
